This is an introductory class that provides basic knowledge of the linguistic subdisciplines phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics, basic knowledge of human language processing, as well as basic knowledge in core areas of computational linguistics, such as the theory of formal languages, complexity, context-free grammars, POS tagging, parsing, semantic analysis, as well as the required statistical techniques.
The class is obligatory for Bachelor students and is also strongly recommended for Master students who want to follow linguistics classes but have not studied linguistics in their Bachelor courses.
