Admission Regulations for the Bachelor Programme
(German applicants should consult the German version of this page)
Applicants must have a German "Abitur" or an equivalent foreign certificate providing right of entry to higher education.
Students are required to have a good command of German and English from the beginning of their studies in order to understand lectures, participate in discussions, and take examinations. Proficiency in English is to be proved through a
- IELTS band score of at least 5.5 or
- "Computer Based Testing" score of at least 213 or
- TOEFL score of at least 550 or
- "Internet Based Testing" score of at least 80 or
- passed CPE or
- CAE score A or B or
- equivalent certificates of qualification.
(Native speakers of English are exempt from this regulation.)

Written confirmation of six years of English at school with an average mark of at least 3.0 according to the German marking system (or an equivalent mark) from the two final school years also suffices to meet the requirements.
Proficiency in German is proved by the Goethe Institute "Zertifikat für Deutsch als Fremdsprache" (ZDaF) or equivalent certificates of qualification. (Native speakers of German are exempt from this regulation).

How to apply
|Did you receive your qualification for university entrance (Abitur or equivalent)in Germany? Or are you a citizen of the European Union?|
|if YES||Then apply at the Registrar's Office ("Studierendensekretariat") of the University of Osnabrück.
Please fill in the online application.
Applications must be sent in by July 15th.
|if NO, neither of the above||Then apply at the service office ASSIST.
Please fill in the following application form: word-file, pdf-file.
Applications must be sent in by June 15th.
Please send your application to the address given in the application form.
Registration for Bachelor studies is only possible for the winter semester.
Applications may be sent beginning May 1st.

Concerning applications via ASSIST, we strongly recommend that you send your application as early as possible. Open questions can then be settled within the application deadline.
